Inadequate Covid-19 testing and delayed results have been blamed for increasing Coronavirus infections in Isiolo.
Although the County has been recording fewer cases in the recent past, officials believe infections could be increasing by the day because most of the residents no longer observe health protocols.
The delayed results continue to hinder contact tracing and isolation of suspected cases making the disease continue to spread.
More worrying is that the Covid-19 Intensive Care Unit at Isiolo Referral Hospital is almost full meaning critical patients might be forced to seek services in other counties which is very expensive.
Six patients are admitted at the ICU Centre with a capacity of 13 beds as more patients exhibiting Corona-like symptoms continue to stream in the hospital daily.
Isiolo County Health Chief Officer Ibrahim Alio urged residents to ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols to stem further spread of the disease.
The County had by Wednesday this week recorded 13 Covid-19 related deaths and reported over 500 positive cases.
The Press Point is aware that the hospital is overwhelmed and there are no enough nurses to handle the ICU unit while full.
Former Deputy Governor Mohammed Guleid days ago reported that he attended six burials most of which were Covid-19 related.
The Press Point continues to appeal to our people to follow the Ministry of Health guidelines on hygiene, social distancing and wearing of masks.
