An Isiolo based radio journalist Joseph Wanjumbi Kamachu has rejoined Radio Shahidi barely one-and-a-half year after he was poached from the station.
Mr Wanjumbi, popularly known as Captain Kamachu, rejoins the station as a news reporter unlike before where he doubled as a presenter.
At IBSE radio, the journalist worked as a news editor, anchor and a reporter.
In an exclusive interview with The Press Point, the 24-year-old said he was happy that he was back to where he started his radio journey after completing internship at KBC’s Coro Fm.
“It feels good to be back home where my journey started. It is an indication that my employer had faith in me,” he said.
He said he was confident that he had acquired more skills and established networks crucial in propelling his career to a greater height.
Asked whether he had plans to quit radio, he maintained that having brought up in a remote village where radio was the only source of information he wouldn’t consider quitting.
“I am so passionate about radio and it is part of my life and I look forward to working with the mainstream stations later in life,” said Mr Wanjumbi.
The Journalism and Mass Communication Diploma holder from NIBS Technical College has asked Isiolo residents to remain united and observe peaceful elections and rebuke leaders out to divide them on tribal lines.
