Following an outcry from the public and a section of leaders over an incident where three officers were captured on video assaulting a motorist, the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched investigations into the matter.

The about 2-minute clip that went viral on social media shows a police officer exchanging bitter words with a man, holding his phone, by the roadside and as the exchange turns physical, two other officers come to the rescue of their colleague and join together in beating up the motorist.

IPOA confirmed that it had launched a probe into the assault and injury of the motorist and a journalist who recorded the unfolding using his mobile phone both of who reported the matter in Nakuru.

The quarrel started after the officer reportedly rammed the motorist from behind while he controlled traffic on the busy stretch.
