The security organs in Isiolo are on high alert following recent twin attacks that claimed three lives and left four nursing gunshot injuries and saw hundreds of animals stolen at Boji Dera and Ola Bulle areas.
County Commissioner Geoffrey Omoding said they had put in place measures that would avert further attacks and deal with criminals hell-bent on reaping where they never sowed.
Speaking after a security meeting on Wednesday, Mr Omoding revealed that among measures taken was reintroducing a police barrier near Isiolo Referral Hospital within the Ola Bulle area where a young man was shot dead and 19 cows stolen and later recovered.
“We have put strict measures some of which we cannot announce publicly but we want to assure residents utmost security for them and their properties,” the County Security team Chairperson said.
Other issues that the security agencies seek to address include alleged laxity and slow response to reported incidents especially by some of the Police Reservists.
“If the government has given you a gun to protect the citizens in the event of anger and you are just sleeping with it in your house then we will pick it from you and give to someone who is able to do what they are supposed to,” said County Police Commander Moses Musyoka.
The police boss appealed to the residents to promptly volunteer information to ensure action is taken against criminals to avert further attacks.
The security bosses told off some of the communities who had accused police of laxity noting they were doing everything within the law to ensure security is beefed up and stolen animals are recovered on time.
