A police officer was arrested while transporting Sh150, 000 bhang inside a car during the wee hours of Friday morning.
Mr Abdi Sharu Jirma from the Diplomatic Police Unit and currently attached to Ugandan Embassy in Nairobi was nabbed by a multi-agency security team manning Merti Junction along Isiolo-Moyale highway.
Upon searching the Toyota Vitz car the officer was driving, the team recovered five kilograms of bhang hidden in the vehicle’s dashboard and a Cseska pistol loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition.
The officer who was in company of his five-year-old-son was headed to Nairobi.
The suspect is currently being held at Isiolo Police Station awaiting arraignment upon completion of the ongoing investigation.
