The Meru County residents have welcomed the swearing-in of Ms Anne Kananu as Nairobi County’s third deputy governor.

The residents have called on for the immediate confirmation of Ms Kananu as the city-county governor.

Njuri Ncheke secretary-general in charge of operations, Mr Josphat Murangiri lauded the Members of Nairobi County Assembly for embracing inclusivity.

He said that the Njuri Ncheke elders have confidence in ‘their daughter’ and will protect her at all cost.

“On behalf of the Njuri Ncheke elders and all residents of Meru I take this opportunity to congratulate Nairobi County Assembly for considering our daughter and we will protect her,” said Mr Murangiri.

Kananu who comes from Munithu area was the Nairobi Disaster Management and Coordination chief officer before former governor Mike Sonko appointed her shortly before his sack.

She was vetted and sworn in today what may bring to an end, the by-election debate.

During the inaugural, Ms Kananu pledged to prioritize service delivery to Nairobi residents for the realization of more development.

“We will go the extra mile to ensure the aspirations of Nairobi’s people are met to accelerate their socio-economic development,” she said.
