A man has succumbed to injuries after he was lunched alongside a friend with whom they are suspected to have stolen a mobile phone from a pedestrian along Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Thursday.
The two, reports indicate, escaped on a motorbike prompting a serious chase by the onlookers who immediately responded to the distress cries from the victim.
They were cornered near Kenyatta University Nakuru Campus where the locals set them ablaze alongside the motorbike they were using.
According to Nakuru East police boss Ms Elena Kabukuru, one of the suspects died on the spot while the other one was rescued and taken to Nakuru Level 5 hospital for treatment. Ms Kabukuru has urged the public to cease from taking the law into their hands and allow enforcers to do their work.
