A local politician and philanthropist has donated foodstuff to more than 100 needy families in Bulapesa and Burat wards to cushion them against the harsh economic effects occasioned by Covid-19.

While distributing the food at Mariri, Bula, Kambi ya Juu and Kambi Garba areas over the weekend, Mr Mwenda Thuranira asked residents to be compassionate to each other and share with the less fortunate so that they live comfortable lives.

Among those who benefited with the wheat flour, rice and sugar donations, that lasted for several days, were the elderly and persons living with disabilities.

Community leader Ms Halima Suleiman said incumbent leaders had for a long time neglected Bulapesa residents who she said continued to wallow in poverty.

“Other leaders should emulate Mr Thuranira and support the less priviledged in the society,” she said.

Mr Thuranira, who is eyeing for Isiolo North MP seat, asked well wishers to chip in and assist the needy who were living in abject poverty.
