Isiolo North MP candidate Mwenda Thuranira has received a major boost after a section of Muslim clerics and faithful threw their weight behind his bid.
Led by Bulapesa Imams Vice-Chair Shariff Idris, the clerics exuded confidence in Mr Thuranira’s leadership terming it development-oriented.
“Mr Thuranira has proven beyond doubt that he will ensure maximum development if elected and these are the kind of leaders we need,” said Mr Idris.
Sheikh Abubakar Ibrahim urged the faithful not to vote on tribal lines but to consider those who have community interests at heart.
The religious leaders spoke while receiving over 400 Qurans and Sh150 000 donated by the politician to repair worn out iron sheets at Al-Hijan Madrassa.
“He (Thuranira) has come to our aid to ensure our children continue with learning uninterrupted. The money will enable us repair the worn out iron sheets to ensure our children are comfortable,” Sheikh Ibrahim said.
The leaders asked Isiolo residents to rally behind Mr Thuranira’s bid.

Mr Thuranira promised to prioritize the provision of quality education through provision of bursaries and improving infrastructure in public schools and empowerment if elected in the August polls.
The PNU party candidate is among the 15 candidates seeking to dislodge incumbent Hassan Odha.
The leader has undertaken a number of initiatives including full scholarships to over 100 needy secondary students and provision of customised wheelchairs to persons living with disabilities.
Others in the race include businessman-cum-politician Osman Sharriff, former MP Joseph Samal (Jubilee), Abshiro Halakhe (KANU) and DEP’s Lucy Mworia.
