Ex-Bulapesa MCA Moses Kithinji aka Musa Mwamba last weekend dismantled his political opponents in public disrupting a fundraiser organised by philanthropist Mwenda Thuranira in aid of victims of fire tragedy that occured at Mti wa Makaa area two weeks ago.
The Saturday meeting went on well until Mr Musa took the mic to address the crowd after four other aspirants Murithi James, Lelon Lekishon, Joseph Mbaabu and Roy Murithi had spoken and mounted attacks directed to them.
The four contestants for the Bulapesa seat had earlier promised to among others improve the state of feeder roads, issue out bursaries and work towards empowering and improving residents’ livelihoods.
Though he started by saying he was not at the event to politic as was invited by Mr Thuranira, the former MCA started by speaking in parables and later insulted by engaging in direct attack to his competitors.
“You will know them through their language. Telling you that they are from Bulapesa is not important. You all know what I did and did not do. These people who just stood here and promised a lot cannot achieve an inch of what I did,” he said while insisting that ’99 percent of all politicians are thugs’.
But it is the claim that the other aspirants were thieves that irked them provoking a confrontation with Mr Musa nearly fighting with Mr Lekishon disrupting the meeting.
“All these are thieves who are deceiving you. They are criminals and should go,” he said before irate Mr Lekishon woke up and proceeded to where he was only for him to be blocked.
All this while, when Musa embarrassed the other aspirants, Mr Mwenda remained calm under the tent making many residents believe he was supporting the misconduct.
“We are wondering what leadership he will offer if he cannot maintain calm at such a small meeting,” resident David Kinoti told the Press Point.
When he rose to speak after fundraising for the affected families, Mr Mwenda, who is riding on ‘son of the soil’ slogan, said he will work with ‘the one that residents will give him as they know all the aspirants best.
“There have been some confrontations but politics is about competition and everyone wants their own space,” Mr Mwenda who is vying for Isiolo North MP seat said in what was construed by many to mean that he was supporting Mr Musa.
Ms Sarah Mwiti from Bula said it was unfortunate that Mr Musa was abusing other leaders instead of exercising tolerance noting that it was likely of dividing the ward residents.
“He is bold but he must stop acting like an illiterate person because times have changed and we now want ideologies and not how loud one can shout or abuse another,” she said.
