A man who reportedly murdered his wife of 20 years four months ago has been charged before a court in Nyeri.
Stephen Murithi is said to have stabbed the wife Lydia Nyaguthii, a nurse at Tumutumu PCEA Hospital, with a knife at Unjiru village in Mathira on May 19 this year.
The suspect fled after committing the crime only to resurface and surrender to police three months later.
He pleaded not guilty to murder charges with the prosecution opposing his release on bail or bond.
The court ordered the prosecution to prepare a pre-bail report in six days’ time to help guide on whether the suspect should be released or not.
The case will be mentioned on September 26, 2022.
