Police in Murang’a are holding a 23-year-old man who reportedly attempted to defile a nine-year old girl an hour after engaging in an unnatural act with a neighbour’s goat.
The suspect was being sought by irate members of the public when they caught him in a bush attempting to defile the minor.
Police reports indicate that the villagers, who had roughed up the man, were planning to lynch him when police officers from Maragua came to his rescue.
A medical examination done at Maragua Level Four Hospital revealed that there was an attempted defilement on the girl who was later taken to Murang’a South children’s office for further guidance.
The suspect had been stabbed severally on the head before he was rescued and taken to hospital for treatment according to Murang’a South Deputy County Commissioner Mawira Mungania.
The suspect is expected to be charged with attempted defilement and engaging in an abnormal act immediately he recovers from the injuries.
