Wildlife trophies worth more than Sh5 million have been recovered and one suspect arrested in Taita Taveta.

Bakari Barisa, 40, was arrested Friday afternoon within Taveta township trading in pangolin scales worth Sh5 million and jumbo tusks estimated to be worth Sh400, 000.

Pangolin scales are used for spiritual protection and financial rituals making the animal the most sought after and trafficked in the world.

The suspect is being grilled awaiting his arraignment on Monday.
