A row is simmering between Isiolo Governor Mohammed Kuti and a senior county government official over recent mini cabinet reshuffle that sparked mixed reactions among the county staff.
The Press Point is reliably informed that the changes were ostensibly communicated without full nod by the county boss.
Immediately after the communique was made, supporters of the affected officers threatened to shift their support to Dr Kuti’s opponents forcing him to retract.
The cancellation was made nearly two weeks later to among others ensure good transition and smooth service delivery following the Governor’s announcement that he will not seek a reelection and endorsement of Nairobi Majority Leader Abdi Guyo as his preferred successor.
Sources said the changes could have affected Mr Guyo’s take over as would have divided the cabinet which he will hugely rely on to mount a spirited campaign.
Finance Chief Officer Peter Ngechu and Trade counterpart Lucy Kaburu had been moved to Water and Special Programs departments respectively.
Environment’s Amina Abdi Dulacha had been swapped with Agriculture’s Salad Jillo Tutana while Salad Kadubo of Water had been named the new Finance Chief Officer.
Special programs’ Abdia Dabaso was to take over Ms Kaburu’s Trade department.
But the Governor, in March 25 letter, said the affected chief officers should continue serving in their previous mandates.
“Owing to recent developments…the said reshuffle stands cancelled,” the letter read in part.
