A 25-year-old woman has given birth to five babies, four girls and one boy, at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after a successful caesarian section.
The healthy babies are currently under observation while at the incubator.
A past scan showed that she was carrying four babies only to deliver five on April 16, 2021.
This comes two years after a 28-year-old Evelyn Namukhula gave birth to quintuplets, three boys and two girls, at Kakamega General Hospital also through CS.
Ms Jacinta Akinyi in November 2017, then aged 30 years, gave birth to naturally conceived quintuplets but lost the first two boys shortly after the delivery at her home in Western Kenya.
She started delivering at her home and by the time she arrived at the hospital, the two boys had passed on.
