Kenyans have been warned against making speculations on the alleged abduction of Deputy President William Ruto’s aide and close ally Mr Dennis Itumbi.
Mr Itumbi was reportedly abducted by four men after he got out of a barber shop at Thindigwa in Kiambu County.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that Mr Itumbi was roughed up and forced into a Toyota Premio vehicle before he was found in hospital nursing injuries.
According to his brother David Itumbi, the controversial blogger told them that he was arrested on Thursday afternoon and beaten up by police.
“My brother has been badly beaten. We thank God he is alive. On his own account he was arrested by police and beaten and tortured,” Mr David shared on his twitter account.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen took to social media to condemn the alleged abduction and accused the police of harming people they should be protecting.
“Glad to see our brother Ole Itumbi. Sad to see him in such pain. Appaled that the police officers who should be protecting him harmed him,” Mr Murkomen shared.
National Police Service Spokesperson Bruno Isohi Shioso said Investigations had been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidence.
He appealed to those with information regarding the incident to volunteer and report to the nearest police station.
