A section of Isiolo residents will starting tomorrow hold peaceful protests demanding financial accountability by the county government.
Already two groups including one of Bulapesa residents have been permitted by the police to hold the demos on Monday and Wednesday.
The other group that will hold the protests Wednesday claimed there has been no tangible development projects for the last two financial years in any of the 10 wards across the county.
“It pains us that we will in a few days come of the end of the second financial year since we elected new leaders but there is nothing that we can attribute to the funds allocated to them,” said youth leader George Karithi.
Among the issues of concern to the residents is the poor state of roads, health care facilities and stalled multi-billion projects.
They accused Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo of misusing public resources instead of fulfilling the promises he made to electorates during the campaigns.
“The governor should clearly explain to us what he did with funds meant for development because everyone is complaining that nothing has been done,” added Mr Karithi.
Another resident Jesee Laibuni decried the deplorable state of public facilities including police stations wondering how officers were expected to beef up security while working in such an environment in a clear jab on local MPs.
“Some stations do not have toilets and bathrooms. We wonder where those mandated and given resources to support such initiatives are,” Laibuni said.
The group has warned residents and leaders against politicizing the protests saying they were solely meant to push for openness and accountability.
The residents hope to peacefully protest starting 8:00am to 4:00pm.
