Despite being blamed for the failure to discharge their roles on oversight and representation of residents’ concerns, Isiolo MCAs have boasted of having enacted crucial laws and policies beneficial to the electorates.

Residents have severally accused the MCAs of ‘sleeping in the same bed with the executive’ and for failure to carry out oversight on the Governor Mohamed Kuti administration to ensure prudent use of the billions that the county receives from the National Treasury.

Isiolo Assembly Speaker Hussein Roba said the House had among others, enacted County Water and Sewerage Act 2020, FCDC Act 2020, Women, youths and Persons living with disabilities Enterprise Fund Act 2020, Appropriation laws and County Rangelands and Livestock Management policies.

Mr Roba said the MCAs had also deliberated 19 motions and raised six statements on matters of interest to the residents during the Fourth Session in line with Article 185 provisions.

“The MCAs have been proactively engaging in matters of public concern especially in addressing peace and cohesion matters,” Mr Roba shared on Facebook.

The ward representatives have been under fire from five local MPs and residents over failure to prevent alleged plunder of public resources.
