A section of Isiolo residents have called on those engaging in politics to cease and engage in meaningful activities that could steer the county forward economically.
The group identified as ‘Mbogi ya Governor’, loosely translated to ‘Governor’s foot soldiers’ said it was unfortunate that nearly two years after election, some politicians and residents were still holed up in politics instead of letting elected leaders deliver on their mandate.
“Engaging in politics at this time will only drain energy that could be used in other meaningful activities to earn a living. 2027 is far and there are important things that people should be concentrating on, at this moment,” said Jesee Mwiti, while reading the group’s statement.
While pledging to fully support Governor Abdi Guyo deliver his mandate to the electorates, the team criticized those attacking elected leaders saying it would derail development.
“You might not have voted for the leaders in office but you have no choice. They are in office and we need to support them,”noted Mr David Kimathi.
Isiolo Bodaboda Association Chairperson Moses Miriti called on the youth to support the county boss who he praised for uplifting lives of youths from vulnerable backgrounds, through business enabler kits.
“Governor Guyo is the only county boss in the history of devolution who has recognized the critical role of bodaboda sector by giving the needy start-up kits. We therefore urge all our members to support him as he serves Isiolo people,”he said.
Mr Miriti told off youths attacking leaders on social media platforms and urged them to take advantage of other avenues that could help them grow.
“Gone are the days when one would issue threats online as a way of seeking attention from the leaders,” he added.
His sentiments were echoed by Ms Amina Bora who said,”you cannot spend the whole day online hurling insults to the leaders you do not like. Engage in businesses and other productive activities.”
At the meeting were representatives from the Ameru, Agikuyu and the minority groups.
