Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo has waded into the debate on funding of ongoing mega projects in the county and maintained that 70 percent of funding for the over Sh600 million worth county headquarters was from the national government.
Ms Dullo said she was the one who lobbied for the headquarters and that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government promised to fund Sh600 million.
The legislator slammed the county government for what she termed as misleading residents that it was the one providing 70 percent of the funds for the headquarters.
“The senate approved five counties that would benefit from national government funds and we were lucky to qualify for funding of the headquarters,” she said.
Ms Dullo said, while a nominated Senator, she intervened when the county government was asked to furnish the senate with a plan for the construction of the headquarters.
“I had to follow up to ensure the plan was submitted to the controller of budget to pave the way for funding,” she noted while adding that she was the one who lobbied for the two projects.
Sh545 million modern market
She said after reaching out to the government for alternative following razing of market in Isiolo town, the State promised to provide Sh100 million but did not confirm whether the funds had been released.
“Even Deputy President William Ruto, when he visited recently, confirmed the government had pledged the money for the construction of the market,” she said during an interview at a local radio station.
