A Jericho pistol that was stolen from Riruta based police officer three years ago has been recovered.
The officer was attacked along Mtama road in Highbridge parklands by a gang of women and left for the dead by the roadside on June 20, 2019.
Police officers from Parklands station, where the incident was reported, rushed to the scene and found the middle-aged man lying unconscious.
One of the officers recognized the unconscious man as a fellow police officer, who was stationed at Riruta police station and previously worked at Parklands police station.
The injured officer was rushed to Avenue hospital and later transferred to Nairobi West hospital for specialized treatment due to deteroriating condition.
It would later be established that the officer was attacked by a gang of women that police say had until recently taken Nairobi nightclubs by storm and were spiking drinks belonging to male patrons before robbing them of their valuables.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the gun had been used to commit 28 robbery with violence incidents in Kasarani, Makadara, Kayole, Kamukunji, Dandora, Buruburu, Ruai, Kikuyu, Embakasi and Karatina.
Detectives later discovered that the women were part of a dangerous drink spiking syndicate, operating under slain Samuel Mugo Muvota, who was shot dead in cold blood in May, by his associates after a deal gone sour.
Reports indicate the firearm was on some occasions hired to gangsters operating from Kayole, who for the past three years have terrorized over 30 MPESA agents in Nairobi and made away with over Sh10 million from MPESA agents alone.
“Three of the thugs have so far been fatally wounded and the firearm recovered,” DCI said.
