Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga has sent eight senior county human resource managers on compulsory leave to pave way for investigations following complaints of irregularities in recruitment.
The officers have been ordered to keep off the county records and premises as the audit and probe of the county HR and payroll systems is done.
They are Lameck Ogot (Director of Recruitment and Selection), Acting County Public Service Board adminstrator Boaz Nyagute, Secretary to the Board Linet Oguda and Director of HRM Charles Auma Modi.
Others are Acting payroll manager and Acting HR Director Solomon Ochogo and Alfred Okumu respectively, Duncan Akecha (HR officer) and Early Childhood Education Director Winfred Otieno Awour.
In a letter dated September 1, Governor Wanga reiterated her commitment to good governance, transparency and accountability devoid of corruption.
“While on leave, the officers will not be allowed access to the county offices or to undertake any transactions on behalf of the county government,” the letter read in part.
Terming the move as among her reform initiatives meant to streamline the department, the Governor assured residents of quality service delivery saying “there will be no cadre of county jobs available for sale”.
The move comes a day after the Governor made some changes mostly in the Finance department geared towards improved service delivery.
