Garbatulla Level Four Hospital has performed three successful Caesarean section deliveries in the recent past giving hope to mothers who have been struggling to access the services in neighbouring Meru County and Isiolo town.

Upgrade of power supply at the Sub-County hospital to three-phase has supported the services and paved way for operationalization of the theatre.

Isiolo County Health Chief Officer Ibrahim Alio said the theatre was fully operational and that four theatre nurses, two clinical officers, and two anesthetists had been deployed to the hospital.

“We are happy that the three CSs including two emergency ones from Kombola were successful,” Mr Alio said during an interview with The Press Point.

Ms Halima Guyo, a mother of three from Rapsu, said the services will rid them of the costs they used to incur while visiting the Isiolo Referral Hospital.

The power upgrade will allow use of multimillion medical equipment that were leased to the county by the national Government.

“All the equipment we acquired through Managed Equipment Services (MES) are now fully operational,” said Mr Alio.

The official said plans to introduce telemedicine program in the county are on course and that parties involved including Kenyatta National Hospital had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the launch slated for next month.

“We have already trained our staff and signed an agreement with national referral hospital and the project will be launched in July,” he noted.
