Police in Isiolo have recovered two illegal firearms that are suspected to have been used in a recent raid where more than 40 goats were stolen at a homestead in Oldonyiro ward.

The two, G3 with an empty magazine and carbine firearms were surrendered to the police by elders from Nantundu village after they were ordered to surrender the guns used in the attack.

Isiolo County Commissioner Herman Shambi said police officers, after the incident, managed to recover all the goats and stressed on the need for continued coexistence among communities living in Isiolo.

“We are committed to ensuring all illegal guns used to commit crimes are surrendered, if we hear three gunshots from an area, the residents must provide them,” said Mr Shambi.

Mr Shambi said the security team will continue working closely with residents to ensure all illegal weapons are surrendered to police.
