Ameru community elders have been urged to consider female leaders alongside their male colleagues while endorsing those seeking elective positions in the 2022 general elections.
Ms Hellen Makena, who is eyeing Wabera Ward MCA seat in Isiolo, said elders should not just pick male aspirants but also the female so that all groups are fairly represented.
She said women too had an equal chance to lead and appealed to the aspiring men who have previously been in positions to seek higher ones and allow the new entrants a chance to lead.
“If you have served before please vie for higher post and hold our hands so we can also rise up and safeguard our community’s interests,” Ms Makena said.
Ms Makena is battling for the MCA seat with several others among them former MCA Salesio Kiambi who seems to have won the hearts of many residents owing to his past development track record.
She spoke during a community’s meeting to endorse a Gubernatorial aspirant for the 2022 general elections in Isiolo town.
