Elgeyo Marakwet County Public Service Board has been ordered to readvertise six positions of Directors and that of Iten Referral Hospital boss whose shortlisting had already been done following revelations that the process was skewed.
The board had internally advertised the posts and shortlisted “successful” candidates on September 19 and set September 27 for the interviews.
The directors will be in charge of peace, conflict resolution and disaster management, youth empowerment and enterprise development and resource mobilization and partnerships development.
It would however be later established that the process did not meet the required criteria on gender, minority inclusion and regional balance prompting Governor Wesley Rotich to cancel the exercise and order external re-advertisement to allow more people to apply.
In a statement on Wednesday, the county boss said he was keen on ensuring that his adminstration only employs competent and most qualified candidates for better service delivery.
“…Either a few candidates applied or a few were selected for shortlisting, eventually reducing the pool of professionals to choose from, which may not yield desired results,” Mr Rotich said.
