Those close to him say he is proud and full of himself, of course, they have the right to say what they want but I hold a different opinion.
But nearly four months since he rolled out his campaigns for Isiolo North MP seat, Mwenda Thuranira has been touring several parts of Isiolo wooing residents to support his bid but is he making the right political move and where is he messing up?
Like old adage, if your closest friends support you, you are good to start hunting outside but you can never convince people who do not know you how good or committed you are if your closest allies have no confidence in you.
It is somewhat worrying that Mr Thuranira, who is among the best suited to replace incumbent Hassan Odha and who is being supported by quite a number of youths, has never sat down with his community to make it known to them that he is interested in the MPs seat.
Additionally, he has never met Ms Lucy Mworia also from the Ameru community who has shown interest in the same seat and who has quite a reasonable following.
Could Mwenda Thuranira be a lone ranger?
Mr Thuranira and Ms Mworia might end up losing if they all get to the ballot, the reason being the Ameru votes will be split and spoilt giving the other contenders from Borana community an upper hand.
While it is good to have own strategy, on this one, he obviously is messing up.
Like it happens for other communities in Isiolo where elders endorse aspirants, Mr Thuranira is yet to meet the Ameru elders.
If Mwenda Thuranira and Lucy Mworia do not put down their ego, sit down together and strategize in efforts to consolidate the Ameru votes, it may continue being an uphill task for the community to get a representative in the National Assembly.
It is okay to reach out to folks from other communities but at least make sure your family (Ameru) can cheer you up before residents from other communities join the cheering.
