Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko suffered a huge blow after High Court ruled that allegations levelled against him including gross misconduct and abuse of office had been adequately justified.
Judges Wilfrida Okwany, Weldon Korir and Juma Chitembwe upheld Mr Sonko’s impeachment and ruled that Deputy Governor Anne Kananu’s nomination,vetting, approval and appointment was lawful.
The court held that adequate public participation was done before the ouster and Ms Kananu’s vetting.
The ruling paves way for Ms Kananu to be sworn in and later appoint her deputy.
