Few days after posters bearing names of people claimed to be betraying the Ameru community in Isiolo, local leaders have demanded for action against those involved.
The list bearing 11 names of the alleged traitors sparked mixed reactions among the public as residents wondered who wrote and dropped the materials at strategic points within Isiolo town.
The list had names of among others business persons, clerics, national government administrators and elders.
“We ask with utmost respect you stop betraying and selling Ameru people. Be contented with the benefits you have gained by betraying and dividing our people. Please stop the behaviour before God forces you to do so,” the typed document read in part.
The mentioned persons, the letter claimed, were earning from political brokership making the community to be taken for granted by leaders from other communities.
Cleric Bishop Kalunyu claimed the documents were dropped by a group of youths paid by some evil minded individuals to tarnish names of their tribesmen.
“These are serious allegations and the perpetrators should substantiate the claims because this is defamation,” Mr Kalunyu of Nica church said.
He demanded thorough probe to establish those behind the incident and action against those involved in spreading of the “rumours”.
