A 22-year-old man who early last month reportedly killed his middle-aged father in a brawl over food in Mukurweini will remain in custody until Tuesday when Nyeri High Court judges on leave resume duty.
Kennedy Waruiru stabbed Cyrus Kigera, 55, severally with a kitchen knife in Mwitu village killing him on the spot while the mother was away.
The woman had left the son and the father together after preparing food for them.
The suspect did not take plea last week when he was arraigned as Nyeri court judges were on leave forcing the High Court Deputy Registrar Edina Angima to defer it to September 6.
He will be detained at King’ong’o GK Prison ahead of next week’s plea taking.
