Police in Imenti North, Meru County are interrogating two suspects arrested with a rifle, dagger knife, a machete, club (rungu), and an empty 38mm cartridge.
The two men: Mr Roy Thuranira and Joseph Kimathi had tucked the revolver Taurus special caliber pistol in the side pocket of the motorcycle that was packed at a bar’s yard near Giaki junction along Meru-Mikinduri road.
Police suspect that the two, who were arrested following a tip-off from the public, were out to commit a felony.
Mr Thuranira, 21, hails from Mikinduri while Mr Kimathi, who is believed to be the owner of the motorcycle, hails from Kianjai.
“The two are in custody for further investigation before their arraignment,” a police report made at Meru police station Vide OB No 08/01/05/2021 reads in part.
The two are likely to be charged with possession of illegal firearm and intent to commit a crime.
