Eleven people have been killed in two separate banditry attacks in the last two days.
In the first incident, eight people, five from Wajir, were killed in clashes at Lakole-Dogogicha in Merti following killing of two men riding on a motorbike on Monday night by bandits said to have come from Wajir West.
Their bodies were found around 10pm with gunshot wounds.
On Wednesday, bandits suspected to have come from Samburu gunned down two men in Attan, Ngaremara.
A lorry driver was same evening shot dead at Archers Post while collecting sand from the banks of River Ewaso Nyiro.
The incidents have caused tension in the region with majority of the families especially in Merti fleeing for their safety.
The spate of insecurity has also disrupted learning across the local schools with over three temporarily closed and several boreholes vandalized.
Local leaders and residents have called on the government to move with speed and contain the situation to ensure peace resumes.
Isiolo County Commissioner Geoffrey Omoding said contingency of officers had been deployed to affected areas to ensure situation returns to normal.
Proliferation of illegal firearms and competition over resources have been blamed over the increasing banditry attacks.
