Ngimari village in Embu East has been thrown into mourning after a family lost seven of its members in an inferno.
The seven, who include a man, his wife, their three children and two grandchildren, were burnt beyond recognition in the fire that broke out during wee hours of Sunday morning while they were asleep.
Neighbours who responded to screams from the seven found their timber house in flames and their efforts to put out the fire and rescue them turned futile.
The house was reduced to ashes.
Investigations have been commenced to establish the cause of the fire that has spread panic among the villagers.
It remains unclear if the fire was caused by an electric fault or the house was set ablaze by an arsonist.
We at The Press Point condole with the bereaved family and pray that God grants them peace at this difficult time.
