Former Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo will pick a deputy from Somali community in his quest to unseat Governor Mohammed Kuti.
Borana Council of Elders on Tuesday revealed that after wide consultations, the community had resolved to pick a deputy governor from the Somali community.
The decision is believed to have been necessitated by recent talks between Somali and Borana elders in Kinna where the former Chair Shariff Abdullahi made remarks that portrayed non Muslim communities in negative light.
The announcement was made by the Council’s Chair Abdullahi Gonjobe during the endorsement of five leaders to represent the community in the 2022 general elections.
The development brings to an end past speculation that Mr Doyo would vie with James Loasa as his deputy.
Doyo having settled on Somali deputy, Governor Kuti will likely pick a Deputy from non Muslim communities but time will tell.
The elders are yet to agree on the party that Mr Doyo will vie on.
