A two-year-old boy with a gardening fork lodged in his skull has died while undergoing an operation, reports indicate.
The boy who was allegedly hit with the fork by another child while playing had been admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital.
A Good Samaritan, Cyrus Maina Monday helped the child get first aid and X-Ray at Thika Level Five Hospital before he was transferred to the national referral hospital today.
The mother had earlier today lamented that her son was yet to be attended to and that they were still holed up at the hospital’s casaulty eliciting public uproar.
The hospital speedily clarified that the delays were due to patient’s clotting challenges saying he could not be immediately booked for theatre.
“The patient had lost a lot of blood and as a result, the clotting process was not occuring as expected delaying the surgical procedure (as would have been dangerous),” the hospital said in a statement.
The facility’s communication department said the patient had been stabilized and was undergoing a delicate operation in the theatre.
