President Uhuru Kenyatta has only 14-days to appoint the six judges that he rejected, the High Court has ordered.
A three-judge bench comprising of Justices William Misyoka, James Wakiaga and George Dulu said upon the lapse of the given period without the Head of State adhering to the order, the six, will automatically become dully appointed.
The six are, Weldon Korir , George Odunga, Joel Ngugi and Aggrey Muchelule and High Court deputy registrar Judith Omange and Mombasa chief magistrate Evans Makori.
In June this year, the President appointed 34 of the 40 judges who were recommended by the JSC and they took an oath of office prompting the Katiba Institute to file a petition challenging the rejection of the six.
In the court, the Head of State argued that he declined to appoint the six in line with a letter that and in the spirit of the constitution that swore to defend.
In the recent past, the court has overturned several decisions made by the President in what is being perceived as a supremacy battle between the Judiciary and the Executive.
