Isiolo Governor Dr Mohammed Kuti has warned defiant cabinet members, directors of various departments and communication team that they risk sack for failure to push his agenda as he works towards building a legacy.
Worried over increasing number of county officials secretly working with his political foes which could jeopardize his 2022 reelection ambitions, the Governor has fired the last bullet to the officers saying he will not tolerate divided attention.
Of concern to the county boss is persistent stillness among the county officials, who should be his foot soldiers, amid continued attacks to his government over poor performance and often online bashing by bloggers reportedly hired by a section of local MPs who are his ardent critics.
Irritated Dr Kuti lectured the county staff during a performance management workshop in Isiolo town for watching as his government is attacked whereas they were political appointees.
“It is either you are with me or we part ways. There is no two way about it. I have bestowed a lot of trust in you and if you take it elsewhere, I will take it away from you,” the Governor said while delivering his speech which took about 30 minutes.
He asked them to be proactive and utilize all available media platforms to sell out his agenda and most importantly, tell the public what had been done and the future plans for the residents.
Some of the county executives have already shifted their allegiance to local MPs including Senator Fatuma Dullo who, if recent happenings is anything to go by, intends to dethrone Dr Kuti in 2022.
The Governor warned the staff against involving themselves with activities of his political foes noting that he will not tolerate disobedience and rebellion.
He directed county executives, chief officers and directors to attend all his functions lamenting lack of government presence in recent meetings.
Dr Kuti ordered County Secretary to ensure there is enough government presence at all his functions lest the whipping starts with him.
“I want to see government presence and if I don’t see that, I will start with you,” he told Dr Ahmed Galgalo.
