Three people have died and another hospitalized after consuming contaminated alcohol in Cianyi village, Embu County.
Reports indicate that the three, two of whom died on Saturday, took the second generation liquor suspected to have been laced with some chemicals at a local wines and spirits shop.
They would later complain of stomach aches and dizziness with the third passing on Sunday morning.
Their bodies were moved to Siakago hospital morgue awaiting post mortem.
Three suspects have since been arrested over sale of the drinks as investigations that include analysis of samples obtained from the drinks continue, police sources revealed.
“The three who were arrested for selling the liquor are being interrogated,” a police officer not authorized to address media told The Press Point.
Last week, seven people died and several were hospitalized after taking adultered alcohol in Oldonyiro, Isiolo.
The liquor, an imitation of Vodka, was allegedly bought at Lodukoe market within Isiolo/Samburu border.
Isiolo Sub-County police commander Collins Sainna said another person lost his sight days later and is admitted at Isiolo Referral Hospital together with three others.
The security team has so far recovered nine out of 23 cartons of the liquor with appeals made to the public not to consume the disastrous liquor.
