A court in Nyeri has ordered a second mental assessment of a suspect who murdered his 55-year-old father in a fight over food early last month.

This was after a medical report submitted in court had conflicting details.

Kennedy Waruiru, 22, is said to have severally stabbed Cyrus Kigera with kitchen knife in Mwitu village in Mukurweini killing him on the spot while the mother was away.

The suspect did not take plea a week ago when he was arraigned in Nyeri court as all the judges were on leave forcing deferment of the case to September 6.

Judge Florence Muchemi ordered that a fresh mental test be done before the man takes plea for murder charges.

He will be detained at King’ong’o GK Prison until September 26 when the case will be mentioned.
