The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has launched investigations into allegations of ghost workers and fraudulent procurement of motor vehicle insurance in Kisii county government.
EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak said the agency had taken up the matter and that those found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
Asking the new Governors to strengthen accountability systems to seal corruption loopholes and ensure prudent use of public resources, Mr Mbarak said the county governments must report corruption scams for action.
“They (Governors) should cooperate and provide us with details of the emerging corruption cases to inform our interventions. We hope they will not run down their counties like some of their predecessors,” he said.
He further asked the counties to strengthen internal controls in procurement, staff recruitment and payment of pending bills.
