The combative Education Cabinet Secretary Gorge Magoha has lost powers to his junior, Basic Education PS Richard Belio Kipsang.

This comes few days after Prof Magoha dared Njuri Ncheke elders to curse him for insulting and publicly humiliating Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Dr Gitonga Mbaka who happens to be a member of the council.

Yesterday, the Public Service Commission (PSC) directed that all human resource powers delegated to the CS had been bestowed upon Dr Kipsang.

According to PSC the move was in exercise of the Commission’s powers and commitment to protect public servants against undignified and unwarranted attacks and to foster public confidence and maintain the integrity and dignity of the public service.

CS Magoha uncouth behavior elicited backlash from a section of Kenyans, many faulting him over how he addressed the senior official publicly.

Kenya National Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) officials from Tharaka-Nithi, where Dr Mbaka hails from, also demanded an apology from the CS if not face the wrath of the Njuri Ncheke elders.

“Prof Magoha must also apologise to the Ameru Council of Elders for insulting Dr Mbaka,” said Kuppet executive secretary Patrick Gitonga in Chuka town today.

The Tharaka Nithi County leaders have said that the action by the PSC is not enough and continues to demand that the President Uhuru Kenyatta sack the CS.

Interestingly, the visibly untouchable Magoha was today expected in Tharaka Nithi County and specifically in a school in the village where Dr Mbaka comes from only to cancel the visit in the morning.

According to Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner, Prof Magoha considers visiting the county a day next week.

This means that the move by the PSC has immensely embarrassed the CS who has always been full of himself since his days as University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor and as Kenya National Examination Council boss.
