The Isiolo Assumption of Office for the Governor Committee has begun preparations for the swearing in ceremony of third Governor Abdi Guyo and his deputy Dr James Lowasa.
The outgoing Matopeni/Spring Valley ward MCA was declared winner after garnering 28,926 votes in a hotly contested race where former Governor Godana Doyo came second with 26, 270 votes.
Speaking during a media briefing after holding their sixth meeting, County Secretary Dr Ahmed Galgalo who chairs the committee assured of a smooth transition and handing over process.
“We had our sixth meeting today and we have done 90 percent of our mandate to ensure a smooth transition so that service delivery is not affected,” said Dr Galgalo.
Saying that the names had already been gazetted, Dr Galgalo revealed that the committee was also working tirelessly to ensure that pending bills handed over to the new government are genuine.
“Unlike before where we have had pending bills which are not genuine sneaked into the new government, we want to, this time round, make sure that we have an up-to-date assets and liabilities register for hand over to the new Governor,” he said.
Isiolo County Commissioner Geoffrey Omoding said that they had put in place necessary security measures to ensure a smooth transition.
“We want to assure the residents that the exercise will be conducted in a peaceful manner,” said Mr Omoding.
He lauded residents for maintaining peace during the electoral process saying that they had not received any major complaint during the process.
The swearing in ceremony is set for August 25 (Thursday) at Isiolo Boys grounds.
Chief Justice Martha Koome has already appointed 47 judges to swear in governors-elect across the 47 counties.
The Judiciary boss said the exercise would take place immediately after the electoral commission had gazetted the winners of the county seats.
