President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced plans by his government to construct 12,500 new classrooms across the country in efforts to ensure learners comfortably continue with learning while observing the Anti-Coronavirus protocols.

The Head of State during his seventh Nation address at Parliament directed Education and Transport ministries to develop new guidelines on cost-effective building materials.

Mr Kenyatta said 430,598 students had so far been enrolled into 182 technical and vocational training colleges across the country in efforts to equip them with hand-on skills for self reliance.

He directed the Ministry of Education to announce the 2021 academic calendar in 14 days as other classes expected to resume learning in January 2021.
