A Kirinyaga based primary school teacher committed suicide by jumping into a well at Kandongu village in Mwea West.

A suicidal note the 56-year-old Karuria Wangithi left behind indicated that she took away her life due to huge debts she owed some banks and local women groups.

The late Wakaniu Primary teacher indicated that the debts should be paid by her two sons, who she also directed to share the property she left equally.

Her body was discovered in the well by school children on Wednesday morning.

Police reports indicate that she could have jumped into the well on Tuesday night shortly after her sons had left after having supper together.
