Investigations have been launched into a last Sunday’s case where a man allegedly poisoned his three children before committing suicide in Malandi, Kwale County.
Sources say Ali Rashid Mwazuma, 35, returned home from visiting his in-laws and prepared food for the children aged between five and 10 years as the wife was away from home.
Police reports indicate that the man left the children while eating and later returned only for his body to be found dangling from the roof moments after arriving home.
Preliminary investigations show the three children, including the one who spotted the father’s body, were alive by the time neighbours arrived at the home.
Neighbours revealed that the man was not in good terms with the wife.
Kinango police boss Fred Ombaka said two of the children died while the other is admitted at Kinago Sub-County hospital with the bodies preserved at the facility’s morgue.
“He hanged himself using sisal rope. We have launched probe to establish what made the deceased kill himself,” he said.
