A 40-year-old man has been jailed for life after he was found guilty of defiling a 10-year-old girl eighteen months ago.
Mr Cliphas Otieno defiled the girl at Anindo village in November 2020 and was later arrested and charged with defilement and indecent act, counts that he denied before Rongo Law Courts.
While rendering the judgment Rongo Senior Resident Magistrate Raymond Langat said a medical examination carried out at Awendo hospital proved that the girl had been defiled.
The court said the girl positively identified Mr Otieno as their neighbour meaning he was a person she well knew.
“…she was crawling on the ground due to injuries and could not walk during the rescue,” the Magistrate said, ruling that the suspect took advantage of the girl who will for the rest of her life live with trauma.
The Magistrate said Mr Otieno did not deserve any mercy for the offence he committed to the innocent girl.
