Police Sunday shot dead a criminal while stealing a police uniform at Kambi ya Juu officers quarters.
Armed with a machete, the criminal broke into one of the officer’s houses around 11PM and stole his uniform which he carried in a bag.
It is while leaving that two officers heard a commotion and flagged him but he declined.
The criminal, Isiolo Sub-County Police Commander Collins Saina said, advanced towards the officers causing a confrontation that left him fatally injured.
Members of the public have been asked to be vigilant and to always ask for identification details of whoever approaches them adorn police uniform to ensure they do not fall prey to imposters and criminals.
Mr Saina said they suspect the uniform was to be used for commission of crime.
