Tens of bandits were badly injured after police foiled their planned ambush on a lorry transporting cattle from Moyale to Nairobi for slaughter.

The bandits, suspected to be Samburu Morans, waylaid the lorry that had over 49 heads of cattle at Malgis area in Marsabit County prompting a fierce gun fight with two police officers, Constable Robert Njau and Corporal Aden Kaise, who were escorting the livestock on Sunday.

Overwhelmed by the gallant officers, the bandits fled for their safety.

The officers and the cattle transporters escaped unhurt with the animals.
