A Meru man who allegedly attempted to chop off of a 16-year-old boy over claims that he was uncircumcised has been arrested.
Police reports indicate that the boy was tricked by the suspect that he would give him a casual job but on arriving at the said farm, met four other men.
The four then laid the boy down on the ground before his to be employer attacked him with a sword claiming they wanted to circumcise him.
The boy told police that he pleaded with the attackers telling them he had undergone the rite of passage but they could not stop.
The boy struggled to free himself from the attackers but sustained several injuries on his thigh and legs that led to him being admitted for several days.
In his defence, the suspect told the police he was punishing the boy for allegedly stealing his mangoes.
However, the police have dismissed the claims saying he did not report the case.
The suspect is currently being held awaiting completion of the ongoing investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the January 8 incident after which he will be arraigned.
