The much awaited political earthquake by ANC leader, Musalia Mudavadi didn’t happen at Bomas of Kenya as anticipated.
However, the absence of the earthshaking announcement has generated tremors throughout the political landscape.
Conversely, one would conclude that Musalia Mudavadi inadvertently achieved his aim of causing widespread political drama.
Mudavadi coveted a moment of glory and he got it.
Not only did he invite One Kenya Alliance’s most abhorred political nemesis behind the backs of co-principals, but he did so knowing too well it could wreck OKA.
While one cannot begrudge any person the choice of friends, it appears Mudavadi’s actions are against any coherent political strategy.
Mudavadi ignominiously and hastily acted in pure anger.
How could a leader of Mudavadi’s caliber fail to discern the political landmines ahead of the 2022 presidential election and be careful of what they say, do or associate themselves with?
Why did Mwana wa Mulembe doublespeak when delivering a keynote address during ANC’s Delegate Conference?
It is not lost to pundits that though powerful, the message in Mudavadi’s speech was diluted by the reality at Bomas of Kenya.
Coming from a leader who has presented himself as the moral and ethical face of this country’s leadership, Mudavadi lost all that demeanor at Bomas.
A keen observer could notice that while all other guests or what was left after key co-principals walked out clapped for Mudavadi, his Wife, Tessy was so tensed up she hardly could smile let alone get excited.
Perhaps after experiencing her husband’s fatal political mistakes and trying to advise him in vain, she decided to attend the conference for the sake of family unity.
That as it may, it is difficult to put a finger on what Mudavadi intended to achieve with what some political pundits have described as reckless and pointless political move.
Nonetheless, Mudavadi has succeeded in proving that politicians are untrustworthy, cunning and immune to shame.
In the backdrop of what transpired at Bomas, it should be remembered that in the runs up to 2013 presidential election, NASA was Mudavadi’s creation, while OKA is Kalonzo Musyoka’s idea.
Could Mudavadi be experiencing political sibling jealousy syndrome or alpha complex?
Kenyans may never know what goes on in Mudavadi’s head but from a leader who is so likeable to always fail to exploit political opportunities in his favour is perplexing to say the least.
Mudavadi aggressively talked about a broke economy, trust deficit and the need to protect the Constitution by overthrowing leaders who are intent on amending it but left out CORRUPTION.
Perhaps Mudavadi didn’t wish to embarrass his current political benefactor!
What he also succeeded in bringing to the attention of Kenyans is that seated a few feet behind him was the face of corruption and what ails this country.
Indeed, removing Mudavadi from the podium and out of Bomas, Kenyans would have been shocked by the audience.
Politically speaking, Mudavadi has re-enacted the 2002 scenario, whereby he defied political logic and refused to join progressive and reformist minds and ended up being trounced by little known political rookie by the name, Moses Akaranga in his Vihiga constituency.
This time round, many political heavyweights in Western region have appealed to reluctant Mudavadi to soberly lead and guide the Mulembe nation in vain.
For unknown reasons Mudavadi has never succeeded in bringing together the Mulembe nation to vote as a bloc and one wonders what magic trick he expects to play for it to do so in August, 2022.
For one, people in Western region will as usual exercise their voting rights taking into account the side of political divide their interests will be better catered for.
Secondly, under Mudavadi’s current political dalliance, they cannot expect anything less than Mudavadi being a presidential candidate under the ANC banner or running mate to William Ruto of UDA, coalition notwithstanding.
The first expectation has no political value addition whatsoever, while the second option is farfetched.
In this case, one can conclude that by joining a presidential rival who is on record dismissing other parties as briefcase or village parties, Mudavadi will either fold up ANC or worse still dramatically change course when reality dawn on him about the damage he has caused to Mulembe nation, himself and family.
Although it might be late by the time Mwana wa Mulembe is set free by political “demons”, history will remember a political gentleman who could have made it to the top seat in Kenya but squandered the chances by always going against the order of political nature.
Mudavadi will not be alone because the world and Kenya in particular has many good natured fellows whose only mistakes is lack of faith in themselves and unfortunate weakness that is prone to exploitation by their political rivals.
Poor Mudavadi.
